Warsaw, Poland – August 28, 2024 — Following a teaser trailer released on Monday that hinted at the possibility of dinosaurs appearing on the frozen wastelands, considerable attention has been drawn.

11 bit studios, particularly the development team behind "Frostpunk 2," is excited to announce that a test version of the game's modding tools—named Frostkit—will be available at the game's launch.

Since the release of the first "Frostpunk" in 2018, modding support for creating maps and scenarios has been a popular topic within the community. However, the original game and its internal engine had certain limitations. According to Szymon Jablonski, the technical director of "Frostpunk 2," "Thanks to the switch to the Unreal Engine, everything is different now."

A trailer showcasing the modding tools for "Frostpunk 2," created in collaboration with mod.io, highlights its potential. Notably, players will be able to create custom maps, populate these maps with custom models, and set them in new cities—whether ancient, cosmic, or beyond the original icy apocalypse—combined with custom scenarios.

The test version of the modding tools will grant creators access to most of its features, although these features will be gradually upgraded based on community feedback.

For the development team, this will be a valuable reference to understand which parts work well and which need improvement.

To kick off this process, the tools will first be made available to selected members of the modding community through closed-door testing before their official release.

The highly anticipated "Frostpunk 2" will be released on September 21 in China Standard Time on PC and will be available through PC Game Pass on launch day, with a console version to follow. The Digital Deluxe Edition will include access to three yet-to-be-announced DLCs, in-game items, and various additional content, allowing players to access the game content 72 hours early, starting from September 18.
