Whether you've watched the movies or read the original books, as long as you're familiar with the "Harry Potter" series, you'll certainly have a deep impression of "Quidditch." With last year's success of "Hogwarts Legacy," Warner Bros. naturally wouldn't miss the chance to launch a spin-off, and so "Harry Potter: Quidditch Championship" landed on all platforms last week.

"Harry Potter: Quidditch Championship" largely follows the Quidditch rules from the original work, except the number of players has been changed from 7 to 6, and picking up the Golden Snitch no longer guarantees instant victory. However, these are all gameplay modifications, so you don’t need to pay too much attention to them.

In the game's Quidditch matches, each team consists of 1 Keeper, 1 Beater, 3 Chasers, and 1 Seeker. In single-player mode, you need to switch between the 6 players to win. In online play, each player controls 2 characters, forming a practical 3v3 competition.

The players' roles, characteristics, and rules are detailed quite thoroughly in the game's tutorial. Chasers are mainly responsible for passing and scoring. They need to keep trying to capture the Quaffle Harry Potter Quidditch Championship (4).jpgwhile flying and throw it into the opponent’s goal hoop. The Keeper stays fixed in front of the team's three goal hoops and can only move on the X/Y axis. Their duty is to guard the hoops by blocking shots or knocking out attacking players.

Beaters don't need to worry about the Quaffle; they hold Bludgers that can knock out opposing players. If they knock out an opponent's player, it creates a brief numerical advantage for their team. The Seeker's goal is to capture the Golden Snitch, which flies around the field. Once the Seeker sees this rare, glowing ball, they must chase it and try to catch it.

Scoring a goal with the Quaffle earns 10 points, and catching the Golden Snitch earns 30 points. The team that first reaches 150 points wins.

The game blends the flying experience with the competitive feeling quite well, and once you get used to the controls, they feel comfortable. Each role has its own fun, whether you keep switching between players or focus on controlling just one. You can always find enjoyment in the strategic transitions between offense and defense.

However, the AI in the single-player mode is not very smart at the moment. Players can camp near the opponent's Keeper and snatch the ball to shoot right after the opponent serves, which works almost every time. Even without exploiting this, it’s quite easy to figure out the AI's logic, making the challenge level not very high.

Additionally, there is a seasonal rewards system in the game. Players can earn wands, actions, and unique skins by leveling up. This system doesn’t involve any microtransactions, as it's purely a mechanism to encourage players to play more.

"Harry Potter: Quidditch Championship" does a great job of recreating the form and fun of Quidditch. The various strategic changes are enough for fan players to immerse themselves in for dozens of hours. However, for non-fans, the single mode and complex rules may be reasons to pass on the game.
