Narrative Game "Copycat" Coming to Steam on September 19

The independent game development team Spoonful of Wonder from Australia & Ukraine announced that its narrative game "Copycat" will officially launch on the Steam platform on September 19. This game is very suitable for pet lovers and is published by Neverland Entertainment and Nuuvem. The game duration is about three hours.

"Copycat" explores the complex relationships between people and family, and between people and pets, while incorporating aesthetic design and unique features into the game. It has been praised by Gameshub as "a complex, touching narrative experience," recommended by Kotaku as "a game to play on the couch while holding your pet," and Indie Games Devel calls it "a warm yet sad story." TechRadar exclaims, "The deeper you go into its world, the more your tears will flow."

A demo is now available for download on the Steam platform, and the full version is scheduled to release on September 19. A 10% discount will be available during the launch period. Currently, the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox versions are in development, but their release dates have not been confirmed. "Copycat" is a narrative game filled with complex emotional entanglements, exploring the true meaning of "home." Players will follow a newly adopted cat and together experience what "home" really means. However, when one stray cat takes the place of another in a family, who is the real "copycat"?

While exploring the complex emotional bonds between humans, this game also provides players with a pleasant visual experience through its rich artistic effects. Players will take on the role of the kitten Dodo, exploring the city, crossing alleys, climbing fences, and scaling rooftops, all in an effort to find a way home and reunite with her owner Olive. But when she returns home, will Olive recognize her? Faced with two identical cats, how will Olive choose?

The game includes experiences such as climbing trees, outsmarting dogs, visiting neighbors, and performing various "cat-like" activities from a first-person perspective: for example, scratching sofas to sharpen claws, knocking everything off the table, hiding in cardboard boxes to simulate hunting, and meowing at anything that moves. By introducing a moral choice mechanism, players must determine what is right and wrong as the narrative progresses. The game features 38 different scenes, allowing players to guide the cat through cozy suburban homes, sunny backyards, dark alleys, and lush national parks, offering a "view" of the Australian suburbs.

The color design of the game is vibrant, contrasting the warm atmosphere of home with the loneliness of homelessness through autumn's golden hues and the cold industrial blues.

Music and sound:
"Copycat" presents a carefully crafted soundscape, including hours of dialogue performed by professional voice actors. The game's soundtrack, composed by Daniel Bunting, strengthens the emotional bond between players and the game's protagonist (the kitten Dodo) through its unique, intuitive, and emotional style. During this three-hour gaming experience, players will hear a variety of musical styles, including lullabies, jazz, and tribal sounds.
